What is Feeding the families?

Committed to providing families in need with fresh, local and organic food, Happy Heart Farm owners, Dennis and Bailey Stenson, started Feeding the Families in 2009. In the program’s first year, we raised enough funds to feed six families. In 2010,we created a non profit Friends of Happy Heart Farm and raised over $12,000 to feed 20 families.  In 2011 FHHF raised over $12,000 to feed 25 families. In 2012, 29 families were fed(10 of these families were victims of the High Park fire).  In 2013, over 30 families will be fed.

Who is eligible to participate in Feeding the Families?

Low-income families in Fort Collins are encouraged to visit the Friends of Happy Heart Farm Website to learn more about the program. Feeding the Families recipients are asked to give back to the program a minimum of 12 hours of work or pay $50. All recipients are encouraged to participate in the Farm’s seasonal celebrations. To apply for this program fill out the Application Form and mail it to: Friends of Happy Heart Farm, 2820 West Elizabeth St. Fort Collins, CO, 80521.

My three children and I have been extremely blessed this season, not only to feast on locally grown organic food when the cupboards were bare, but to be a part of something larger: a community of hardworking, dedicated people who care for the earth and other.

The Feeding the Families program is generously supported by Friends of Happy Heart Farm. Our fund raising goal of $25,000 will be reached through individual, business and church donations, fundraisers, and grants. Tax deductable donations can be made at:happyheartfriends.org.
